#10: Dear Future Blogger
As an avid blog follower I was very excited when I heard about this project. I think it's a great way to get students involved in what's going on in the world. Also, getting them inspired to write about things they're interested in. There are some struggles when beginning your blog, like the self generated topics can be difficult. You'll be doing research just trying to find a topic alone. Rather than, being given one immediately and jumping right in. I really loved getting to try both given and self generated topics because it gave my blog a good variety it may have not had. I'm sure all I would've talked about was clothes and traveling if I had the opportunity!
Blogging has taught me how personal I can be in my writing. If I want to be biased, that's totally cool as long as I can back myself up! Before I always felt a need to be neutral as a writer and I finally broke those boundaries. It also has a "real world" connectivity because you see all of these people's (classmate's) insights on topics. You may agree with them or you may not. I know I didn't agree with every student's stance on topics this semester. But, it was nice to see everyone's open mindedness and respect towards other's opinions.
This was such a nice alternative to writing boring, college essays. Hearing friends complain about their ten plus, nightmarish essay assignments made me love blogging even more. I had zero complaints and wish this would be my life next semester in English 102. Blogging has been a great and easy outlet for my creative side and I encourage future student bloggers to embrace it's awesomeness. I enjoyed this project so much, I have been inspired to start my own!
P.S. If you're struggling, I always leaned on a cup of joe to get me through it!
Good luck guys!
