#1 The Big, Bad Blogging World
Often, I hear people say blogs are all "fake news." That bloggers only write about things that will bring them readers, not to actually put information out. This is totally untrue. Most blogs are to inform people of the crazy things going on in the world. Things like Trump's latest tweets or the catastrophic weather effecting the world. Blogs can be informative, professional, and personal. I really enjoy reading blogs; I read different ones four to five times a day. I'm checking out the latest news, fashion, even something about dogs. There is a blog for everyone and I believe more people should be reading them.
After looking around at other blogs, I received some inspiration for my own blog. When I read FaceHunter, I automatically became obsessed with their layout. The heading font is very abstract, which got me interested. Then, at the top they had links posted that takes you to another blog post, about the blog, a video, and also a link to a similar photography blog called Yvan Rodic. The feed consists of pictures from this years fashion week in various locations, like Asia and Canada. I loved all the pictures of beautiful people and their style. What I don't like about it, is that there is no captions for any of the pictures. So, you don't know who the model is or who they're wearing. If the blog had more verbal context, it would be visited much more by myself and surely others.
To be honest, I had no idea that HuffPost was a blog. I thought it was a news source like CNN or Times. The Huffington Post, is a reliable blog. They have stories about things that are truly going on in the world, that every citizen should be aware of. For example, on their feed there is a post titled, 'All the Questions You Want Answered About DACA.' As its headlining post is about Trump's ongoing battle to have the travel ban approved. They seem to post mostly about important, political topics. I did see however, a post about 'Man Takes A Selfie Every Day, From Age 12 to Wedding.' Never, have I noticed HuffPost talk about things that are not political. This blog has a very easy layout to browse. You can see the top stories, what's in the news, and even things that are lifestyle based. The Huffington Post is my top favorite blog I checked out.
Orangette, is a cute, little personal blog I fell upon. The last time she updated was on July 1st, 2017. So, about two months ago, which in my opinion makes it a bit outdated. Either way, I really love the look and style of it. She posts a lot of recipes; she seems like a total foodie. She has each post begin with a picture. After that she goes into either recipes, like the one about British flapjacks. Even things about her daughter and a few posts about her father. She is very personal in her blog posts; in an inviting way where, even though you don't know her, you want to read it. Looking at her blog, gives me some inspiration on how I would eventually like to have a blog. Not so personal and definitely more organized, but I really enjoyed the style and feel of it.
I've enjoyed exploring new blogs. You learn a lot about them just by reading different kinds that are either political, corporate, or personal. Each blog has a different style and tone, even if the posts are on the same subjects. Orangette, HuffPost, and FacHunter are all fascinating blogs that are different aspects of the blogging scale. Each of them can teach a blogger a thing or two.

It's really interesting to explore the blogs you mentioned and talked about! I like that you linked to each individual post to give us easy access to the pages that the respective blogs posted on. Reading about the Orangette blog was interesting, especially about that post you linked to about the british flapjacks. A very good read!

So you did well with enticing your audience! I need to step my game up I'm in love with your blog ;)
ReplyDeleteand warrior essence.... love it!
DeleteI totally understand the obsession with FaceHunter! I also really enjoyed the Yvan Rodic's blog (come to find out he is the owner if Facehunter haha). I really enjoyed Rodic's personal blog because being in the photography world myself, I never though of making a blog to get my work out there.
DeleteWhat a great start to your blog. Well organized, accessible, thoughtful and engaging - as is evidenced by the positive feedback from your peers. Only suggestion would be to make sure to take advantage of writing in this medium by incorporating images/pictures/etc. to visual support your writing as well. Keep up the good work!
